Poem written in my original language (Romanian). TRANSLATION: "Um... it doesn't rhyme," she said I looked at her. "You kidding?" And then she shook her head. "No, look, this poem really has no rhymes at all You sure it's the right file?" "Let me see." She handed me her phone and I looked at the text on the screen, smirked, turned off the phone and kissed her "You are truly the cutest," I said. "But, you see, not all poems must have rhymes." "Sure they do. Then why d' you write them? And why should the world bother to read them?" "Good question. Maybe I'll find out one day..."

– Uite, nu rimează, zise ea. Am privit-o adânc. – Tu... vorbești serios? Dădu din cap. – Uite, poezia asta chiar n-are nici o rimă. Nimic. Ești sigur că-i documentul care trebuie?

Great to see you writing in your native tongue. Is it possible to add a translation for those of us less versatile?

Si eu credeam ca poezia trebuie sa aiba rima pana cand m-am apucat sa scriu poezii…
Apoi am tot vazut cu vers liber si ma tot gandeam: “daca versurile astea ar fi puse unul dupa altul in linie ai zice ca-i doar o simpla bucata de proza… deci de ce-i poezie? Pur si simplu pentru ca textul e aranjat in versuri?”
Dap, mi-a luat ceva pana sa-mi dau seama, dar ma bucur c-am perseverat.

Yeah, sometimes the best works come out of going into something with no expectations.

Yeah, the best stories are those you go into with no expectations. They never fail to surprise you

A poem without a rhyme is a day without sunshine. That’s why your poems bring out the gray shades in this world, Bogdan. A nice one. Made me smile. Needed that. 🙂

(っ´▽`)っ Oh, I’m glad!
Few people know this, but when I first started writing poetry I wrote rhyming poems ( ༎ຶ Ŏ ༎ຶ )
And they were… bad. Because, like most poets who attempt to rhyme, I was focusing on the rhymes at the cost of everything else. Honestly, I’m glad I stopped rhyming, else I would’ve ended up being the next William McGonagall (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_McGonagall).

Thanks for sharing this link, Bogdan. I had no idea about this ridiculed poet. What a sad but fascinating story. I’m glad you switched over. 🙂
