yes, there are those days
when you lie
in bed
with palms under your head
and stare at the
cracks in the
ceiling
There were many cracks on
the kid’s
ceiling
and he watched them
imagining that
they were borders
between countries
He was looking upon
a world map
and he started naming
the countries
and their people
some were humans
and others
were beast folk
and fairies and demons
and the politics
between these countries
were quite shaky.
There were wars all
the time
and that was
easy to imagine,
for the background noise
of wars
was very vivid
just a door
away
It was getting
quite intense now

Love the concept, Daydreaming as a Profession. I spend a lot of my time daydreaming.
Fantasy World Map … I love how your poem with a couple of deft moves slides from something everyone can instantly relate to, to the intense sounds war just a door away. And then I think, it’s just luck I’m not in that house.

Yeah, I think anyone who didn’t grow up in a house like that can consider themselves quite lucky 😶
And for those who did… I know that retiring in one’s own world is a coping mechanism. One thing it’ll do for you is make sure you carry some of your child self into adulthood. Those are the people most prone to becoming artists.
