a guitar with two broken

strings

and a ragged hat

with a few coins and

bills

and a young girl’s faded

photo

was all he left behind

the metro station

was silent

now

like a page

from a book

you had to look

closely

and start reading

to hear the noise

And they all did

as they stood

lined

on the edge

looking below

at the

scene

No page says the same

thing

as long as it’s not

read by the same eyes

Those who read that

he had played the

greatest

love song ever

and decided to quit the

scene

because nothing will sound

the same ever again

and he couldn’t bear

to live in a world like that…

I’m on their side
